The recent 2023 Big Data Summit attracted 380 senior-level executives from 75 universal and commercial banks, FinTechs, money lenders, digital banks and rural banks for an intensive day of data-driven dialogue and strategy formulation.
Against this backdrop of high-level engagement, the TransUnion Data Quality Awards recognized organizations that achieved outstanding results in data quality management, and present those best practices as an industry-wide benchmark of excellence.
By recognizing achievements across three categories, we aim to create a roadmap for how organizations can elevate their data management practices to achieve actionable results and enhanced decision-making capabilities.
Each category involved a multistage evaluation, including quantitative analysis and an expert panel review. The weighting of each criterion was calculated to ensure a balanced assessment.
In a category that demands nothing short of excellence, Maybank Philippines set new industry benchmarks in data completeness, timeliness, and accuracy. Its President and CEO, Gail Del Rosario, expressed gratitude via a video message, emphasizing the team's commitment to maintaining high data quality standards.
HSBC Philippines was lauded for meticulous data management across portfolios, a testament to its robust data quality protocols. The bank’s Credit Control Services Head Tricia Lopez-Vito accepted the award.
In a field where speed, agility and efficiency are key, Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank set a new standard for onboarding efficiency. The award was accepted by President Dennis Valdes who acknowledged the hard work of credit heads, Eddie Mar Gutierrez and Charm de Guzman.
In an environment where quality data is the cornerstone of effective decision-making, BDO Unibank, Inc. distinguished itself. Its proactive collaboration with TransUnion in maintaining and enhancing data accuracy set it apart as an industry leader in this vital area. The award was accepted by Francis Magboo, Credit Risk Head for Consumer Banking Group and Joel Andres, Fraud Risk Management Head.
Beyond critical discussions and industry accolades, the 2023 Big Data Summit also provided a playground for the intellectually curious. The Game Session Awards were designed to inject a dose of fun and interactivity into the Summit experience.
Participants tackled real-world scenarios using industry and consumer data, covering topics from credit trends to fraud prevention. These engaging sessions fostered meaningful connections and offered valuable insights in a relaxed environment where everyone was a winner.
These awards spotlight the critical pillars of data quality and integrity in the Philippine financial services sector. We congratulate Maybank Philippines, HSBC Philippines, Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank and BDO Unibank, Inc. for setting the standard and raising the bar.
